John Raymond Kleiser

John Kleiser was born in 1919 in Lebanon, Pennsylvania and got a Phd in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania.

From 1941 to 1945, he served in World War II as a Lieutenant, J.G. in the U.S. Navy.

After the war, he taught psychology at the University of Pennsylvania and Gerard College in Philadelphia.

In 1949 he began working at Devereux Schools and became head of the clinical psychology.

During the sixties, he sang in the chorus of the Philadelphia Opera

In 1970 he took over the psychology department of the Woods School.

From 1983 to 1995 he was a volunteer at Lankenau Hospital in the intensive care unit for heart surgery patients

In the school system of Rosemont, Pennsyvania, he was active in the PTA and the Cub Scouts.

He sang in the choir of the St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Devon, Pennsylvania with his wife for thirty years.

He and Harriet have three sons, Randal, a Hollywood film director; Dave, Business Manager of the Brooklyn Museum; and Jeff, digital animation pioneer.

In 1995 he and his wife moved to Willow Valley Manor in Lancaster, Pennsylvania where he is active in various clubs including chorus, acting, golf, computers and volunteers in the mail room.

Now retired, he has devoted the last ten years primarily to his love of painting.
